
Calendar Block Guide: How to Display Events and Collections in Squarespace
Calendar blocks display events and collection content in a calendar format, pulling information from your collection pages. They work with events, blog posts, products, albums, and gallery collections.
Calendar Block Example
How to Add a Calendar Block:
- Edit a page/post
- Click Add Block or insertion marker
- Select Calendar
- Click the pencil icon to edit
- Choose a collection page to display content from
Key Features:
- Displays event titles, times, and selected images
- Shows content from one collection page at a time
- Excerpts appear on mouseover
- Images crop to fit calendar dates
- Navigate months using arrow buttons
- Click dates to view original item pages
Best Practices:
- Add excerpts and images to collection items
- Set event end times to 11:59 PM instead of midnight
- Future blog posts won't display (but upcoming events will)
- Multiple items on one date show times and titles together
Responsive Design:
- Adjusts automatically for smaller screens
- Below 600px: Shows titles, times, and excerpts (no images)
- Below 300px: Displays titles only
Important Notes:
- Not compatible with bookings (use appointment blocks instead)
- Dates without items appear gray or match background
- No custom styling options available
- Multiple items on same date won't show individual images
- Calendar automatically expands to show multiple items
