How to Reset Your Google Workspace Password: A Step-by-Step Guide
Resetting your Google Workspace password can be done through two main methods, depending on your administrative permissions.
Prerequisites:
- Squarespace: Must be site owner or administrator
- Google Workspace: Must be super administrator or administrator
Method 1: Reset via Squarespace (Recommended)
- Access the Google Workspace panel
- Navigate to Users section
- Click "..." next to the Administrator's name
- Select "Reset password"
- Enter an alternate email address (use a personal email, not the one being reset)
- Click the recovery link in the email to create new password
Note: If you see "Send invitation" instead of "Reset password," the user hasn't logged in yet. Follow the Google Workspace signup process instead.
Method 2: Reset via Google Workspace Admin Console
While possible, this method requires more steps. If prompted to add a CNAME record to DNS settings, ignore and use the Squarespace method instead.
Missing Temporary Password?
If you haven't received your initial temporary password:
- Check your spam folder
- Request a new welcome email through the Google Workspace panel
Common Issues:
- Cannot access account: Verify you're using correct login credentials
- No reset option available: Confirm your administrator status
- Reset email not received: Check spam folder and verify alternate email address
- Login errors: Consult Google Workspace Troubleshooting guide
Remember: Always use a different email address for password recovery than the one being reset to ensure access to recovery instructions.
