Built-in search features help visitors find content on your Squarespace site through three main methods: search blocks, a built-in search page URL, and header search fields in select version 7.0 templates.

Search Content Coverage

The following content is indexed for site search:

  • Text, Markdown, and Code blocks
  • Image captions and Map block addresses
  • Collection items (blog posts, events, portfolio pages, products)
  • Page titles and descriptions
  • Tags and categories
  • Gallery and Album pages (version 7.0)

Search Implementation Options

Built-in Search Page: Access site-wide search by adding "/search" to your domain:

  • yourdomain.squarespace.com/search
  • yourdomain.com/search

Search Block:

  • Add customizable search fields to any page
  • Limit search to specific collections
  • Enable auto-populate results

Header Search Bars (Version 7.0): Available in select templates:

  • Brine
  • Farro
  • Skye

Optimizing Search Results

To improve search effectiveness:

  • Add descriptive titles and descriptions
  • Use relevant tags and categories
  • Include keyword-rich content
  • Use specific search terms for better results

Important Notes:

  • Noindex pages and Not linked content are included in search results
  • Unpublished content appears only when logged in
  • Member site pages aren't indexed
  • Search results follow site-wide font and color settings
  • Track search queries in analytics panel

Troubleshooting Tips:

  1. Clear browser cache
  2. Remove site-wide and page passwords
  3. Verify searchable content exists
  4. Try different browsers or incognito mode
  5. Disable browser extensions
