Managing NS and TXT Records

NS (nameserver) and TXT records are essential DNS components that help manage your domain's settings. Here's how to add them to your domain:

Adding NS Records

NS records store information about your domain's nameservers. To add a new NS record:

  1. Navigate to DNS Settings
  2. Find Custom Records section
  3. Click Add Record
  4. Select NS from Type dropdown
  5. Enter @ in Host field
  6. Input provider's NS data
  7. Save changes

Adding TXT Records

TXT records contain text information for domain verification or email authentication. To add a TXT record:

  1. Go to DNS Settings
  2. Locate Custom Records
  3. Click Add Record
  4. Choose TXT from Type dropdown
  5. Enter hostname (use @ for root domain)
  6. Input required TXT value
  7. Save changes

Important Notes:

  • Only modify DNS records when required by third-party services
  • Each domain's DNS settings are managed separately
  • Changes may take 24-48 hours to propagate
  • Incorrect DNS settings can affect domain functionality
  • Keep records of any changes made

For domain connection issues, verify your records are correctly entered and allow sufficient time for propagation. Always back up existing DNS settings before making changes.

Remember to check with your service provider for specific record values and requirements before making any DNS modifications.

These instructions apply to domains managed through Squarespace or connected via Nameserver Connect. Contact your domain provider's support for specific guidance if needed.
