Custom email domain authentication helps prevent your email campaigns from being marked as spam. A custom email address matches your domain name (e.g., [email protected] for www.sampledomain.com).
Authentication Options:
- Transfer domain to Squarespace (automatic authentication)
- Manually add authentication records to DNS settings
Manual Authentication Process:
- Find Authentication Records
- Access Email Campaign Settings
- Locate Sender Information
- Click Authenticate
- Note the two required DNS records
- Add DNS Records First Record:
- Type: CNAME
- Host: squarespace._domainkey
- Data: squarespace-domainkey.squarespace-mail.com
Second Record:
- Type: TXT
- Host: _dmarc
- Data: [unique code provided]
Provider-Specific Instructions:
IONOS:
- Login to my.ionos.com/domains
- Select domain
- Click DNS
- Add records
- Save changes
GoDaddy:
- Access Domain Manager
- Navigate to Domain Settings
- Select Manage DNS
- Add both records
- Save changes
Google Domains:
- Login to Domains.google
- Click DNS icon
- Scroll to Custom resource records
- Add both records
- Save changes
Hover:
- Login to hover.com
- Select DNS
- Add both records
- Save changes
Namecheap:
- Access Domain List
- Select Manage
- Choose Advanced DNS Records
- Add both records
- Save changes
Important Notes:
- DNS propagation can take up to 72 hours
- Authentication is complete when "[Domain Not Authenticated]" disappears
- Contact your provider's support for specific guidance
- DMARC policy of p=reject requires domain authentication
