Keep Your Current Email Provider:

• Only CNAME and A records need adjustment
• No changes required to nameservers or MX records
• For Squarespace domains, add necessary DNS records provided by your email provider

Migrate to Google Workspace:

• Maintain your current email address while creating a new account
• Manage billing through Squarespace
• Access emails, calendars, and documents through Google's interface
• Works with both third-party and Squarespace domains

Before Migration:

• Ensure your domain is properly set up on Squarespace
• Complete any pending domain transfers
• Keep current email service active during transition
• Maintain administrator access to both accounts

Migration Process:

1. Create Google Workspace Account

   • Use your existing custom domain
   • Set up email addresses for all users
   • Allow 72 hours for MX record transition

2. Import Content

   • Export emails and contacts from current provider
   • Use Google's data migration service
   • Transfer email history to new account

3. Cancel Previous Service

   • Wait 72 hours after setup
   • Verify successful email reception
   • Save important content
   • Remove old MX records (Squarespace domains only)
   • Maintain domain service for third-party domains

The transition period typically takes 1-2 hours but may extend up to 72 hours as mail services update their cached MX records. During this time, emails will route to both old and new accounts.
