How to Transfer Your HostGator Domain to Squarespace: Complete Guide

Managing your site's domain in one place becomes easier when you transfer your HostGator domain to Squarespace. Follow these steps to complete the transfer:

Before Starting:

  • Review pricing and billing details
  • Check domain transfer requirements
  • Verify timing for domain transfer
  • Plan for moving custom email addresses

Step 1: Access HostGator Account

  1. Visit HostGator website
  2. Log into your account
  3. Click "Domains" in the sidebar

Step 2: Verify Domain Contact Information

  1. Click "More" next to your domain
  2. Select "Contact Info"
  3. Review Administrative tab details
  4. Update if needed and save changes

Step 3: Unlock Domain and Get EPP Code

  1. Go to Domain Overview
  2. Click "Change" next to Locking
  3. Turn Locking OFF
  4. Request and save EPP Key

Step 4: Initiate Transfer in Squarespace

  1. Open Domains panel
  2. Click "Use a domain I own"
  3. Enter domain name
  4. Click "Transfer domain"
  5. Enter EPP code
