Focal points allow you to control what part of your image remains centered when displayed in different containers across your website. Here's how to use them effectively:

Where You Can Use Focal Points

  • Image blocks
  • Gallery sections and pages
  • Featured images
  • Banner images
  • Background images in sections

Focal points are not available for:

  • Background images in version 7.0
  • Parallax scrolling images (though present, effects may be limited)

How to Set a Focal Point

  1. Open the block, section, or image
  2. Hover over the image to reveal the focal point circle
  3. Click and drag the circle to your desired focal area
  4. Changes save automatically - no need to click save

Factors Affecting Focal Point Impact

  • Container shape vs. original image shape
  • Image dimensions (width/height ratio)
  • Display area size limitations
  • Responsive design considerations

Troubleshooting Display Issues

If images appear blurry or distorted:

  • Verify image format compliance
  • Check responsive design settings
  • Review container size settings
  • Confirm focal point placement

Tips for Best Results

  • Use high-quality original images
  • Consider final display dimensions
  • Test across different screen sizes
  • Adjust focal points for each display context
  • Review image positioning from the visitor's perspective

For galleries specifically, focal points can be adjusted either in the main gallery editor or individual image settings, depending on your site version and configuration.
