Before starting your domain transfer from Name.com to Squarespace, ensure you have:

  • An active domain at Name.com
  • A Squarespace account
  • Your domain's authorization code
  • Up-to-date contact information

Transfer Process:

  1. Log in to Name.com and access your domain
  • Navigate to Name.com
  • Sign in to your account
  • Select your domain under My Domains
  1. Prepare domain for transfer
  • Remove Name.com nameservers via Domain Details > Manage Nameservers
  • Delete all nameservers and DNS zone
  • Unlock your domain if locked
  • Verify contact information under Registrant Contacts
  • Opt out of the 60-day transfer lock
  • Get authorization code from Transfer Auth Code section
  1. Initiate transfer in Squarespace
  • Open Domains panel
  • Click "I already have a domain"
  • Enter domain name
  • Click Transfer Domain
  • Enter authorization code
  1. Complete transfer details
  • Verify registration information
  • Enter payment information
  • Review order details
  • Confirm and pay for transfer
  1. Post-transfer steps
  • Wait for Name.com to approve transfer (5-7 days)
  • Monitor transfer status in Domains panel
  • Check DNS settings if needed
  • Don't modify settings during transfer

Important Notes:

  • Transfer includes one year of domain registration
  • Keep existing MX records for custom email addresses
  • Transfer can take up to 15 days
  • You'll receive confirmation email once complete
  • Contact Name.com if transfer fails after 15 days

After successful transfer:

  • Set as primary domain if desired
  • Enable SSL
  • Add custom email (Google Workspace)
  • Update DNS settings as needed

For failed transfers:

  • Check registration information accuracy
  • Verify authorization code
  • Contact Name.com support
  • Consider domain connection instead of transfer

Remember to wait until transfer completion before making any DNS changes or adding new integrations.
