
Add Background Videos to Your Site: A Complete Guide
A background video can add dynamic visual effects to your site. Here's how to add and optimize them effectively:
Video Requirements:
- Maximum length: 60 seconds (for uploaded videos)
- Ideal frame rate: 60 fps
- Recommended resolution: 1080p
- Minimum bitrate: 3 Mbps
- Format: Landscape (16:9) recommended
Best Practices:
- Limit to 2 background videos per page for faster loading
- Keep videos under 40 seconds
- Minimize camera movement for smoother playback
- Center main subjects with space for cropping
- Avoid quick cuts and excessive panning
- Use videos that complement rather than distract from content
- Add a mobile fallback image
Adding Background Videos:
- Prepare Video Source:
- Upload directly (version 7.1)
- Use YouTube (public/unlisted, embedding enabled)
- Use Vimeo (requires paid account)
- Add to Your Site:
- Open Pages panel
- Click Edit
- Select section and click Background
- Choose Video source
- Customize settings
- Customize Options:
- Select background width (Full Bleed or Inset)
