Account Language Settings

Your account language affects how you navigate and edit Squarespace. To change it:

  • Go to Account Settings > Language
  • Select your preferred language
  • Changes apply to all sites you manage
  • Each collaborator can set their own language preference

Site Language Settings

Site language controls the integrated text visitors see. To modify:

  • Version 7.1: Open Site Languages panel
  • Version 7.0: Open Language and Region panel
  • Choose your desired language
  • Click Save

Supported Languages

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Japanese (7.1 sites only)

What Stays in English × Calendar structures × Sample homepage content × Most third-party integrations × Your custom content (text blocks, page titles, etc.)

Template Compatibility

  • Bedford family
  • Brine family
  • York family
  • Select templates from Montauk and Pacific families

Date Localization

Localized date formats apply to:

Important Notes

  • Site language changes don't translate your custom content

  • Selected language appears in site header code
  • Mobile apps follow computer language settings
  • Update alerts remain in English only
