Digital Products are add-on plans that enhance your website's ability to sell digital content like courses and member-only sites. Here's everything you need to know about pricing, billing, and management.
Prerequisites:
- Active Squarespace website
- Site owner or admin permissions
- Paid website plan (Personal, Business, Basic Commerce, or Advanced Commerce)
Plan Features and Benefits:
- Reduced transaction fees
- Increased video storage (beyond 30-minute base limit)
- Customer accounts
- Custom domain payment processing
- Subscription discount capabilities
- Full commerce features
To Purchase a Digital Products Plan:
- Open Content and Memberships panel
- Click Products in sidebar
- Click "Choose a plan"
- Select billing cycle (monthly/annual)
- Choose desired plan
- Enter payment information
- Confirm purchase
Plan Management:
- View plan details in Billing panel
- Access invoices and payment history
- Toggle auto-renewal settings
- Change or cancel plan anytime
Video Storage:
- Base storage: 30 minutes
- Additional storage varies by plan
- Applies to Video blocks, Courses, Videos pages, and backgrounds
- Check usage through Video Library
Transaction Fees:
- Fees vary by plan level
- Lower fees on higher-tier plans
- Consider upgrade if high sales volume
- No limit on number of paying visitors
Payment Processing:
- 15-day grace period for failed payments
- Update payment method anytime
- Plan expires after grace period
- Reversion to 9% transaction fee upon expiration
- Re-subscribe available while website plan active
Free Trial Users:
- Can test features
- Must upgrade to paid website plan for active subscriptions
- Separate payments for website and Digital Products plans
- Both payments must succeed for full activation
