Domain contacts are vital records containing owner, admin, technical, and billing information for your domain. Keeping this information accurate is crucial for domain management and ownership verification.

Contact Roles:

  • Owner: Primary contact and official domain registrant
  • Admin: Secondary contact who receives most domain emails
  • Technical: Backup contact for critical domain emails
  • Billing: Backup contact for critical notifications (not shown in basic WHOIS)

Important Contact Information Guidelines:

  • Names must contain at least 4 characters
  • Use an accessible email address (avoid Apple email services)
  • Don't use email addresses associated with the registered domain
  • Phone numbers should be entered without dashes or country codes
  • Address must match the selected country for proper country code assignment
  • Organization name requires minimum 4 characters (optional for personal use)

WHOIS Privacy:

  • Automatically enabled for most domains
  • May not be available for country code domains (ccTLDs)
  • Can be disabled if needed

Updating Contact Information:

  1. Access your Domains panel
  2. Select the domain to modify
  3. Click Edit in Registration Information
  4. Update contact details
  5. Save changes
  6. Verify changes via email if required

Email Verification Process:

  • Required for owner contact changes on gTLDs
  • Verification emails sent from [email protected] or [email protected]
  • Must be completed within 15 days to avoid domain suspension
  • Can be resent if needed

Best Practices:

  • Keep contact information current
  • Save contact details for reference
  • Use accessible email addresses
  • Verify changes promptly
  • Review information annually

Remember that domain contact information is critical for maintaining ownership and receiving important notifications about your domain.
