Customer accounts allow visitors to save payment methods, shipping addresses, and order information securely on your site, helping increase recurring sales and build stronger customer relationships.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Active SSL with Secure preference
• Enabled payments on your domain (including custom domains and embedded .squarespace.com URLs)

Enabling Customer Accounts:

1. Navigate to the Selling panel
2. Click Customer Accounts
3. Toggle the feature on

Account Access Methods:

• Automatic login link in site navigation (Version 7.1)
• Order Status page login
• Manual login link creation using

  /account/login

  URL
• Account creation during checkout, newsletter signup, or plan subscription

Account Management Features:

• View all customer accounts in the Contacts panel
• Filter contacts by account status
• Delete customer accounts (except those with active subscriptions)
• Customize account-related email notifications

Payment Method Management:

• Stripe/Squarespace Payments: Secure credit card storage
• Apple Pay: Available for logged-in users
• PayPal: Cannot be saved to customer accounts

Security and Support:

• Password resets handled by account holders
• Email verification required
• Site owners cannot modify account passwords or email addresses
• Guest checkout remains available (account creation optional)

Digital Products Integration:

• Automatic account activation with Digital Products plan
• Password-protected content access
• Membership management capabilities

Deactivation Process:

1. Ensure no active products/subscriptions
2. Turn off Customer Accounts in Selling panel
3. Remove any manual login links
4. Account data preserved for reactivation

The feature maintains customer privacy while offering convenient account management tools for both site owners and customers.
