After you initiate a domain transfer to Squarespace, you can cancel it during the pending status period. Here's what you need to know about canceling domain transfers.

When You Can Cancel

You can cancel a domain transfer while it shows "Pending transfer" status in your Domains panel, but only if your domain provider hasn't yet approved the transfer.

How to Cancel a Domain Transfer

1. Access the Domains panel
2. Click the domain with pending transfer
3. Select the ... menu
4. Choose "Cancel transfer"
5. Confirm your cancellation

If the transfer shows as "Transfer in progress" after cancellation, contact your current domain provider to deny the transfer.

Important Notes:

• Check with your domain provider to confirm if they've approved the transfer
• If the provider has already released the domain to Squarespace, you cannot cancel the transfer
• After a successful transfer, domains must typically remain with the new host for 60 days

If Unable to Cancel

When a domain provider has already released the domain to Squarespace:

• You must wait for the transfer to complete
• After completion, you can prepare to transfer the domain elsewhere
• Remember the 60-day waiting period before transferring to another provider

Best Practice: Contact your domain provider immediately if you want to cancel a transfer, as they can take additional steps to ensure the domain stays with them.
