
How to Check Your Squarespace Site Version and Model Type
To find your Squarespace site's version and model:
- Check the Pages Panel
- Open the Pages panel
- Scroll to the bottom
- Look for version information (7.0 or 7.1)
- For version 7.0, you'll also see your model name
Version 7.1 Sites:
- All models share the same functionality and style options
- Version label shows as "Version 7.1" in Pages panel
- Uses two editing systems:
- Fluid Editor for most block sections and footer
- Classic Editor for blogs, events, and product details
- Cannot switch between models but allows full customization
- Browse models in the 7.1 model store or use AI Design Kit
Version 7.0 Sites:
- Contains 10 different model families
- Each family shares:
- Base structure
- Style options
- Special features
- Models within same family have identical functionality
- Can upgrade to 7.1 using upgrade tool
- Cannot downgrade from 7.1 to 7.0
Important Notes:
- Version 7.0 to 7.1 upgrades are possible
- 7.1 to 7.0 conversions are not supported
- For older sites with left panel missing, you may be using Squarespace 5
- Choose version 7.0 models through the dedicated model store
- Compare model features using comparison tables for informed decisions
