To find your Squarespace site's version and model:

  1. Check the Pages Panel
  • Open the Pages panel
  • Scroll to the bottom
  • Look for version information (7.0 or 7.1)
  • For version 7.0, you'll also see your model name

Version 7.1 Sites:

  • All models share the same functionality and style options
  • Version label shows as "Version 7.1" in Pages panel
  • Uses two editing systems:
    • Fluid Editor for most block sections and footer
    • Classic Editor for blogs, events, and product details
  • Cannot switch between models but allows full customization
  • Browse models in the 7.1 model store or use AI Design Kit

Version 7.0 Sites:

  • Contains 10 different model families
  • Each family shares:
    • Base structure
    • Style options
    • Special features
  • Models within same family have identical functionality
  • Can upgrade to 7.1 using upgrade tool
  • Cannot downgrade from 7.1 to 7.0

Important Notes:

  • Version 7.0 to 7.1 upgrades are possible
  • 7.1 to 7.0 conversions are not supported
  • For older sites with left panel missing, you may be using Squarespace 5
  • Choose version 7.0 models through the dedicated model store
  • Compare model features using comparison tables for informed decisions

To get specific model information and functionality details, consult the model guides for your version and family.
