Starting the process in Squarespace, go to your Domains panel and click "I already have a domain." Enter your full domain name and select "Other" from the dropdown menu. Keep the DNS Settings panel open for reference.

Log into your Strato account at www.strato.de and follow these steps:

1. Add First CNAME Record:

• Go to DNS > Domain management
• Under TXT and CNAME records:
• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: [paste unique code from Squarespace]
• Value: verify.squarespace.com
• Select "No SPF rule"
• Click Apply settings

2. Add Second CNAME Record:

• Type: CNAME
• Prefix: www
• Value: ext-cust.squarespace.com
• Select "No SPF rule"
• Click Apply settings

3. Add A Record:

• Click on A Record > Manage
• Select "Personal IP Address"
• Enter: 198.185.159.144
• Click Apply settings

Important Notes:

• Delete any existing A records with Host: @ or empty
• Keep A records for Mail/email (these manage email services)
• Connection takes 24-72 hours to complete
• Monitor progress in Squarespace DNS settings

Troubleshooting:

• Use DNS checker tool if "Unable to verify domain ownership" appears
• Wait full 72 hours before troubleshooting
• Contact Strato support for account-specific issues

DNS Records Summary:

CNAME Records:
[unique-code] -> verify.squarespace.com
www -> ext-cust.squarespace.com

A Record:
@ -> 198.185.159.144

The connection is complete when your domain shows "Connected" status in the Squarespace Domains panel.
