Connect your Strato domain to Squarespace in 6 simple steps using DNS Connect. Before starting, ensure you meet all third-party domain connection requirements.

Step 1: Start Connection in Squarespace

• Open Domains panel
• Click "Use a domain I own"
• Enter your domain name and click arrow
• Click "Connect domain"
• Select "Other" from dropdown
• Click "Connect domain" again
• Click "Continue"
• Keep the DNS settings panel open for reference

Step 2: Access Strato Settings

• Visit www.strato.de and log in
• Find your domain and click "Manage domain"
• Click "DNS", then "Domain management"

Step 3: Add First CNAME Record

• In Strato's TXT and CNAME Records section:
  • Type: CNAME
  • Prefix: [unique code from Squarespace]
  • Value: verify.squarespace.com
  • STRATO SPF Rule: No SPF rule
• Click "Apply settings"

Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record

• In Strato's TXT and CNAME Records section:
  • Type: CNAME
  • Prefix: www
  • Value: ext-cust.squarespace.com
  • STRATO SPF Rule: No SPF rule
• Click "Apply settings"

Step 5: Add A Record

• Click "A record" then "Manage"
• Select "Own IP address"
• Enter: 198.185.159.144
• Click "Apply settings"

Note: For existing A records:

• Delete @ records that don't match guide values
• Delete blank host records
• Keep Mail/Email records to maintain email service

Step 6: Wait for Connection

• Allow 24-72 hours for full connection
• Monitor progress in Squarespace DNS Settings
• Check for green labels indicating successful connection

Troubleshooting:

• Use DNS checker tool if you see "Can't verify domain ownership"
• Contact Strato support for account-specific issues
• Wait full 72 hours before troubleshooting connection errors
