Connect your DreamHost domain to Squarespace in 6 simple steps:

Before starting, ensure your domain meets Squarespace's third-party domain requirements.

Step 1: Start Connection in Squarespace

• Open Domains panel
• Click "Use your own domain"
• Enter your domain name
• Click "Connect Domain"
• Select "DreamHost" from dropdown
• Click "Connect Domain" and "Continue"
• Keep the DNS records panel open for reference

Step 2: Access DreamHost Settings

• Log in to DreamHost account
• Navigate to Domains > Manage Domains
• Switch to DNS only hosting
• Remove SSL certificate if present
• Click "Remove" in Web Hosting section

Step 3: Add First CNAME Record

• Host: [unique verification code from Squarespace]
• Type: CNAME
• Points to: verify.squarespace.com

Step 4: Add Second CNAME Record

• Host: www
• Type: CNAME
• Points to: ext-cust.squarespace.com

Step 5: Add Four A Records Create these records with @ as Host:

• A record: 198.185.159.144
• A record: 198.185.159.145
• A record: 198.49.23.144
• A record: 198.49.23.145

Step 6: Wait for Connection

• Allow 24-72 hours for full propagation
• Check progress in Squarespace's DNS settings
• Look for green "Connected" label

Troubleshooting:

• Use DNS checker tool if "Cannot verify domain ownership" appears
• Verify all records match exactly
• Keep existing mail records to maintain email service
• Contact DreamHost support for account-specific issues

Note: During the connection period, temporary errors are normal. If issues persist after 72 hours, review your DNS settings or contact support.
