How to Manage Parked Domains in Squarespace - Complete Guide
A parked domain is one that's not connected to any website. When you park a Squarespace domain, visitors see a minimal background image with your domain name displayed.
Managing Parked Domains
When you register or transfer a domain to Squarespace, it automatically becomes parked with default DNS records. The domain remains parked until you connect it to a website.
If you encounter parking errors:
- Open Domain Dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click DNS
- Click Add Presets
- Select Add Squarespace Defaults
Domain Management Options
- Add creators or change domain ownership
- Update contact information for important notifications
- Transfer domain between Squarespace sites
- Create a website using the parked domain
- Add custom email addresses through Google Workspace integration
Important Limitations
- Cannot display ads on parked domains
- Cannot connect third-party domains to parking pages
- Cannot revert to parking page after creating a website
- Parking page only shows domain name and background
- No support for custom code or CSS
Next Steps
To build a website with your parked domain:
- Access Domain Dashboard
- Open domain details
- Click Website
- Select Get Started
For email functionality, integrate with Google Workspace to access:
- Custom email addresses
- Google Calendar

Annual Squarespace plans include one free custom domain. Contact support about balance adjustments if upgrading within one year of domain registration.
Keep your domain's contact information current for:
- Important notifications
- Domain ownership verification
- Future domain transfers
You can manage all domain settings, including DNS records and permissions, through the Domain Dashboard.
