A Squarespace domain can point to an external site while maintaining its original URL in the browser's address bar. This is useful when you need to connect your domain to another platform or create a subdomain for different brand purposes.
Prerequisites:
- Use Squarespace name servers
- Cannot use integrated domains
- Domain must be Squarespace-managed
Point to Non-Squarespace Site:
- Add CNAME Record:
- Open Domains panel > Select domain
- Click DNS > DNS Settings
- Delete Squarespace Default Values
- Add Custom Record
- Select CNAME type
- Host: www
- Data: Provider's URL
- Save changes

- Follow same path to DNS Settings
- Add Custom Record
- Select A type
- Host: @
- Data: Provider's IP address
- Save changes

- Access main domain's DNS Settings

- Choose CNAME (for URL) or A (for IP)
- Enter subdomain in Host field
- Add provider's URL/IP in Data field
- Save changes

- Add CNAME record with www host
- Add URL redirect rule
- Configure SSL and path settings
Troubleshooting:
- Allow 24-72 hours for changes
- Resolve DNS conflicts
- Ensure character limits are met
- Reset name servers if pointing fails
- Disable/enable DNSSEC if needed
