How to Report and Manage Malware in Google Workspace
Google Workspace Subscription Changes
You can upgrade your Google Workspace subscription to access additional features like Google Vault and advanced endpoint management. Here's what you need to know about changing your subscription.
Eligibility Requirements
You can upgrade if:
- You have a monthly Business Starter or Business Standard subscription
- You have a monthly outdated G Suite Basic subscription
- You're not using SEPA for payments
- You haven't transferred your subscription during the current billing period
You cannot upgrade if:
- You have outstanding payments
- Your domain isn't verified
- Your subscription is suspended or overdue
- You haven't accepted the terms of service
- You have an uninterrupted annual subscription from before December 1, 2022
Important Notes:
- Upgrades result in prorated charges
- A new billing term starts from the upgrade date
- Upgrading during a free year forfeits remaining free time
How to Upgrade Business Starter/Standard Subscription
- Open Google Workspace menu
- Click "Change" next to current plan
- Select new subscription
- Review fee details
- Confirm changes
Upgrading from G Suite Basic
Since Google's 2020 rebranding to Workspace, G Suite Basic users must upgrade to maintain features. To avoid losing functionality:
- Review current features in Admin console
- Check user storage (must be under 30GB)
- Export organization data
- Choose Business Standard or Plus plan
- Follow upgrade steps above
Storage and Data Considerations
- Users exceeding 30GB storage after upgrade can't:
- Upload to Drive/Photos
- Send/receive Gmail
- Export data before upgrading using Google's data export tool
- Review storage requirements for each user
Financial Impact
- Upgrades trigger immediate prorated charges
- New billing cycle begins on upgrade date
- Pricing varies by plan level
- Free tier users lose remaining complimentary time
