Monitor Website Traffic Alerts & Detect Anomalies
Traffic alerts help monitor significant changes in your website's traffic through advanced anomaly detection. The system identifies unusual spikes or drops and provides insights into their causes, helping you understand how different marketing channels perform.
The anomaly detection system uses machine learning to compare current traffic with the previous 28 days of data. Significant changes are identified when traffic falls outside 99% of the normal distribution range. Note that websites need at least 28 days of traffic history for the system to function effectively.
Viewing Traffic Anomalies:
- Open Analytics panel and select Traffic
- Choose date range from the dropdown menu
- Look for pulsating exclamation points on the graph
- Click alert icons for detailed information
Anomaly Details Include:
- Date of occurrence
- Traffic volume during the event
- For spikes: Top viewed pages and their traffic percentage
- For drops: Pages with decreased traffic and their percentage
- Contributing marketing channels
Using Anomaly Data:
- Identify successful traffic generators
- Adjust marketing strategies based on insights
- Test different approaches for underperforming channels
- Monitor effectiveness of content and outreach methods
You can provide feedback on each anomaly alert by:
- Clicking thumbs-up or thumbs-down
- Adding detailed comments
- Clicking Send
The system continuously improves as it collects more data, helping you make informed decisions about your website's traffic management and marketing strategies.
