To accept payments in your store, connect either Squarespace Payments or a third-party payment processor in your payment settings. Here's what you need to know about each option:

Squarespace Payments

  • Accepts: Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, Apple Pay, Afterpay/Clearpay, Klarna, and Link by Stripe
  • Available for online store orders and digital product blocks
  • Not available for point of sale or Acuity Scheduling

Stripe

  • Processes credit/debit cards without requiring customer accounts
  • Accepts: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover (US only), and Apple Pay
  • Available internationally (check supported countries list)
  • Will be replaced by Squarespace Payments if you connect both

PayPal

  • Allows payments through PayPal and Venmo accounts
  • Wide international availability
  • Works well alongside other payment processors
  • Available in multiple currencies

Square

  • For in-person payments only through Squarespace Point of Sale
  • Available only in the United States
  • Requires Base or Advanced Commerce plan
  • Processes cash and card payments

Afterpay/Clearpay

  • Offers interest-free installment payments
  • Available with Stripe or Squarespace Payments
  • Processing fee: 6% + $0.30 (Afterpay) or £0.30 (Clearpay)

Processing Fees

  • Squarespace Payments: Varies by plan and location
  • Stripe: Country-specific rates
  • PayPal: Standard merchant fees apply
  • Square: Varies by payment method

Best Practices

  • Consider offering multiple payment options to accommodate customer preferences
  • Check international availability if selling globally
  • Review processing fees for each service
  • Ensure your country is supported by chosen processor
  • Consider customer service needs and support availability

Your choice should balance convenience, fees, and customer preferences while meeting your business's geographical and technical requirements.
