How to Configure Squarespace Payments Settings: A Complete Guide

Squarespace Payments allows you to manage your business's payment settings and customize how you accept payments. Here's everything you need to know about managing your account settings effectively.

Managing Business Information

  1. Update business details via Finances panel > Accept credit cards and more > Manage settings
  2. Edit contact information and other sections using the pencil icon
  3. Click Submit to save changes

Payment Descriptors and Statements

To modify payment descriptor (appears on bank statements):

  • Navigate to Settings > Accept credit cards and more > Manage settings
  • Enter custom text (up to 22 characters) under Payment descriptor
  • Click Save

To update customer statement:

  • Follow same path as above
  • Enter custom text (up to 22 characters) under Customer statement
  • Click Save

Customizing Payment Methods

  1. Access Settings > Accept credit cards and more > Manage settings
  2. Select Payment methods tab
  3. Toggle switches for desired payment types

Account Status and Verification

Common status situations:

  • Business verification needed
  • Account under review
  • Bank account connection issues
  • Account suspension

Test Mode Operations

Requirements:

  • At least one product or donation block
  • Shipping/pickup options for physical products
  • Connected payment processor
  • Public site visibility

To activate/deactivate:

  1. Open Settings panel
  2. Toggle Test Mode option

Account Transfer and Disconnection

  • Transfer ownership: Contact Customer Support for assistance
  • Disconnect account: Contact Support (note: existing subscriptions continue processing)

Important Notes:

  • Test orders are free
  • Regular orders refunds don't include processing fees
  • Account transfers may temporarily affect payment processing
