Google Domains to Squarespace: Migration Guide and FAQ

Squarespace acquired all Google Domains registrations on September 7, 2023. All domains have been successfully transferred to Squarespace's management system. Here's everything you need to know:

Account Management

If you had a Google Domains account:

  • Access domains through Squarespace.com/login
  • Existing Squarespace users: Log in normally
  • New users: Use "Continue with Google" or authentication email

Domain Management Features

Through Squarespace's domain dashboard, manage:

  • Billing settings
  • Contact information
  • DNS records
  • Nameservers and DNSSEC
  • WHOIS privacy

Billing Information

  • Domain subscriptions auto-renew annually
  • Renewal notifications sent 15 days prior
  • Original registration periods preserved
  • Standard rates apply from September 7, 2024
  • Tax exemptions must be re-applied

Domain Services

  • No additional Squarespace subscriptions required
  • Continue using your preferred web provider
  • Free domain and email forwarding included
  • Domain transfers available anytime (no 60-day lock)
  • Google services (Analytics, Search Console, Ads) remain functional
