Google Domains to Squarespace Migration Guide
Squarespace acquired all Google Domains registrations on September 7, 2023. All domains have now been successfully migrated to Squarespace's platform.
Managing Your Domain
If you have a Squarespace account:
- Visit squarespace.com/login
- Sign in with your existing credentials
- Access your domains in the dashboard
If you're new to Squarespace:
- Visit squarespace.com/login
- Click "Continue with Google"
- Select your Google Domains email account
- Follow verification steps if needed
Domain Management Features:
- Billing settings
- Contact information
- DNS records
- Nameservers and DNSSEC
- Whois privacy
Key Billing Information:
- Automatic annual renewals continue
- Existing registration periods are honored
- New Squarespace rates apply from September 7, 2024
- Renewal notices sent 15 days before due date
Important Changes:
- Tax exemptions must be reapplied
- Domain and email forwarding rules require DNS updates
- Custom DNS settings need verification
- DDNS is not supported
- ACME TLS/SSL certificates will work until expiration
Domain Ownership:
- Last payment owner retains primary control
- Contributors receive Editor-level permissions
- Domain transfers allowed without 60-day lock
- Existing Google services (Analytics, Search Console, Ads) remain functional
No Additional Requirements:
- Squarespace website subscription not required
- Continue using your current website host
- Domain management remains independent service
