Site fonts may occasionally be retired when third-party providers make changes. When this happens, you won't be able to use retired fonts in your site, but alternatives are available.

To replace retired fonts in Version 7.1:

  1. Open site styles
  2. Click the arrow next to the font
  3. Locate settings using retired fonts in headings, paragraphs, buttons, or font variations
  4. Select new fonts for each retired font setting

For Version 7.0:

  1. Open site styles
  2. Find style settings using retired fonts
  3. Select replacement fonts

Additional areas to check for retired fonts:

  • Custom CSS panel
  • Lock screen settings
  • Popup promotions
  • Cover pages (Version 7.0)

Important Notes:

  • No automatic detection of retired fonts is available
  • Compare your fonts against the retired fonts list
  • Choosing a new font package will remove all customizations
  • Some font settings may only be visible on specific pages

If using a font package, be aware that switching to a new one will remove all existing font customizations, including available fonts, and cannot be undone.

[Retired Fonts List] The article includes an extensive list of retired fonts including Abadi, Calibri, Century Gothic, and many others. These fonts can no longer be added to Squarespace sites. For specific font alternatives, consult the Squarespace font library for similar options that match your design needs.

For best results, choose replacement fonts that closely match your original design aesthetic while ensuring compatibility with current Squarespace offerings.
