If your site isn't displaying, follow these troubleshooting steps in order:

  1. Check System Status
  • Visit status.squarespace.com to check for any system-wide issues
  • Subscribe for updates via SMS or email if needed
  • If all Squarespace services are operational, proceed to domain checks
  1. Test Domain Access
  • Try accessing your site using the .squarespace.com embedded domain
  • If the embedded domain works but custom domain doesn't, you have a domain issue
  1. Resolve Domain Issues

For Third-Party Domains:

  • Verify DNS settings are correct
  • Check domain provider's status page for outages
  • Wait 72 hours if recently connected
  • Contact your domain provider if issues persist

For Squarespace Domains:

  • Confirm "Default for website" record exists in DNS settings
  • Authenticate domain if recently registered (required within 15 days)
  • Check if domain has expired
  1. Check Site Expiration
  • If you see "The website has expired" message, your site needs reactivation
  • Enable automatic renewal or make manual payment to restore service
  1. Verify Correct Site Display
  • Log into your Squarespace account
  • Click your profile picture in Home Menu
  • View all sites in grid view
  • Locate correct site using title or domain search
  • Ensure domain is connected to intended site

If site remains inaccessible after following these steps, contact Squarespace Support for assistance.

Note: For slow-loading sites, refer to the "Slow Site Loading" guide instead of this troubleshooting process.
