Domain contact information serves as your domain's official registration details. Keeping this information current is crucial, especially your email address, as it's used for important notifications and ownership verification.

Contact Roles:

  • Owner: Primary contact and official registrant
  • Administrator: Secondary contact receiving most domain emails
  • Technical: Backup contact for essential communications
  • Billing: Backup contact for essential communications and billing matters

Whois Privacy is automatically enabled for most domains, except for certain country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) with specific privacy rules.

Formatting Guidelines:

  • First/Last Name: Minimum 4 characters
  • Email: Avoid using domain-associated or Apple email addresses
  • Phone: Enter without dashes (example: 5559876543)
  • Address: Use Address 1 for main address, Address 2 for additional details
  • Organization: Minimum 4 characters (optional if registering personally)

To Edit Domain Contact Information:

  1. Access Domains dashboard
  2. Select domain and click "Edit" in Registration Information
  3. Update desired contact information
  4. Verify email address accuracy
  5. Save changes

After making changes to owner contact information:

  • You'll receive verification emails
  • Both old and new email addresses must approve changes
  • Some changes may trigger a 10-day transfer lock
  • Verification must be completed within 15 days to avoid domain suspension

To Resend Verification Emails:

  1. Open Domains dashboard
  2. Select relevant domain
  3. Click "Owner" in Registration Information
  4. Click "Resend" in the Pending Contact Change message

Best Practices:

  • Keep a backup of your contact information
  • Ensure email address accessibility
  • Regularly review and update information
  • Respond promptly to verification requests

Contact information changes follow specific requirements based on your domain registrar (Squarespace Domains LLC, Squarespace Domains II LLC, or Tucows).
