
File Management Guide: Uploading and Managing Files in Squarespace's Link Editor
Files can be uploaded and managed through the link editor, with a maximum size of 20 MB per file. Here's how to handle files on your site:
Uploading Files:
- Open the link editor
- Select "File" from the dropdown menu
- Click the upload icon to choose a file
- Enable "Open link in new tab" if desired
Managing Existing Files:
- Create links to uploaded files by selecting them from "Recently Uploaded"
- Rename files by clicking the pencil icon
- Delete files using the trash can icon
- Download individual files by right-clicking and selecting "Save link as..."

Supported File Types:
- ZIP files (single file per link)
- PDF files (forms functionality disabled)
- DOCX files (will always download)
- Images, audio, and CSS files (managed separately)
Important Notes:
- Files added to galleries, blocks, or CSS are stored separately
- File URLs cannot be modified
- Password protection works at the page level, not individual files
- Browser behavior may vary when opening different file types
- Files on password-protected pages won't appear in search results

- Audio blocks

- Developer resources (via Github connection)
File Security:
- Remove and re-upload files after setting page passwords
- URLs assigned by CDN remain accessible if indexed before password protection
- Individual files cannot be password-protected directly
