To change your Squarespace domain name, you have two options depending on timing:

Within First 5 Days:

  1. Open your domains panel
  2. Click the domain you want to cancel
  3. Select "Delete domain"
  4. Register a new domain through your domains panel
  5. You'll receive a refund for the canceled domain

After 5 Days:

  • Domain name becomes permanent
  • Set a different domain as your primary domain instead
  • The original domain cannot be changed or refunded

Important Notes:

  • The 5-day grace period is measured to the minute
  • Country code domains (like .co.uk or .de) don't have a grace period
  • Primary domains can't be deleted until you set a new primary domain
  • Domains purchased through resellers must be canceled through the reseller's account

For ccTLD Domains:

  • No refund or grace period available
  • Can only disable auto-renewal
  • Must follow specific rules for that domain type

Keep in Mind:

  • Canceling a domain stops it from pointing to your site
  • Have a new domain ready before canceling the old one
  • Update your SEO settings after changing domains
  • Ensure your site remains accessible throughout the process

This process helps maintain your online presence while transitioning to a new domain name.
