How to Check Your Squarespace Site Version and Template Family
Site versions in Squarespace determine your available features, templates, and editing options. You can find your site's version in the Pages panel by scrolling to the bottom.
Version 7.1
- All templates share the same features and style options
- Uses both Creative Editor (for block sections) and Classic Editor (for blogs, events, products)
- Template name isn't displayed after trial begins
- Cannot switch templates, but extensive customization available
- Access templates through the 7.1 template catalog or Squarespace Blueprint AI
Version 7.0
- Contains 10 template families
- Each family shares basic structure, style options, and features
- Example: Bedford family includes Anya, Bryant, Bedford, and Hayden templates
- Template name and family visible in Pages panel
- Can migrate to version 7.1 using the update tool
Key Differences
- Cannot downgrade from 7.1 to 7.0
- Version 7.1 offers unified features across all templates
- Version 7.0 features vary by template family
- Different editing experiences between versions
For older sites using Squarespace 5, the interface will look significantly different, with no left panel present when logging in.
Migration Options
- Can upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1
- Must start new trial for 7.0 templates if currently on 7.1
- Access 7.0 templates through the version 7.0 template store
