
How to Transfer an External Domain Between Squarespace Sites
First, unbind your domain from the current Squarespace site:
- Go to Settings > Domains
- Select your domain
- Click "Unbind domain" and confirm
Then, bind the domain to your new Squarespace site:
- Go to Settings > Domains in your new site
- Click "Use a domain I own"
- Enter your domain name and click Continue
- Select "Bind from provider"
- Choose your domain provider from the dropdown
For automatic binding (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions):
- Follow the provider's login prompts
- Click "Bind" when prompted
- Wait for "Binding in progress" confirmation
For manual binding (other providers):
- Access your domain provider's DNS settings
- Locate the CNAME record with verify.squarespace.com
- Copy the unique code from Squarespace's DNS settings
- Replace the existing Alias field with the new code
- Save changes
Important notes:
- Domain binding typically takes 24-72 hours
- External domains can't be bound to parking pages
- Domains must be active with their provider
- Sites must have active Squarespace subscriptions
If you have Google Workspace:
- Complete domain transfer first
- Request Google Workspace transfer with:
- Current site URL
- New site URL
- Custom domain name
