First, unbind your domain from the current Squarespace site:

  1. Go to Settings > Domains
  2. Select your domain
  3. Click "Unbind domain" and confirm

Then, bind the domain to your new Squarespace site:

  1. Go to Settings > Domains in your new site
  2. Click "Use a domain I own"
  3. Enter your domain name and click Continue
  4. Select "Bind from provider"
  5. Choose your domain provider from the dropdown

For automatic binding (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions):

  • Follow the provider's login prompts
  • Click "Bind" when prompted
  • Wait for "Binding in progress" confirmation

For manual binding (other providers):

  1. Access your domain provider's DNS settings
  2. Locate the CNAME record with verify.squarespace.com
  3. Copy the unique code from Squarespace's DNS settings
  4. Replace the existing Alias field with the new code
  5. Save changes

Important notes:

  • Domain binding typically takes 24-72 hours
  • External domains can't be bound to parking pages
  • Domains must be active with their provider
  • Sites must have active Squarespace subscriptions

If you have Google Workspace:

  1. Complete domain transfer first
  2. Request Google Workspace transfer with:
    • Current site URL
    • New site URL
    • Custom domain name

Troubleshooting:

  • Check provider-specific guides for detailed steps
  • Ensure all DNS records are correct
  • Contact Squarespace support if needed, including:
    • Current site URL
    • New site URL
    • Domain name
    • Completed steps
