How to Connect Your Squarespace Domain to a Website - Step by Step Guide
To connect a Squarespace domain to a Squarespace site, the domain must be parked, and both the domain and website should be on the same Squarespace account. The domain will maintain separate billing and permission settings from the website.
Requirements:
- Parked domain status
- Same Squarespace account for domain and website
- Administrator permissions for the website
- Domain manager access for the domain
Steps to Connect a Domain:
- Access your domains dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click Website
- Choose "Connect existing website"
- Select the target site
- Click Next and Confirm
To Edit Domain Connection:
- Go to domains dashboard
- Click your domain
- Select Website
- Choose "Change connection"
- Pick the new site
- Confirm changes
To Remove Domain Connection:
- Open domains dashboard
- Select your domain
- Click Website
- Choose "Change connection"
- Select "Park this domain"
- Confirm the change
Important Notes:
- Cannot connect a domain to specific pages (forwarding is possible instead)
- For subdomains, use DNS records to connect to the site
- To reconnect after third-party service use, remove previous records and add Squarespace defaults preset
- If lacking access, request Administrator permissions or domain manager status as needed
For moving domains with shared billing and permissions, use the domain moving process instead of connecting.
