Anchor links allow you to direct visitors to specific sections on your webpage. Here's how to create and use them effectively:

What is an Anchor Link?

An anchor link (also called "page diversion") is a special URL that takes visitors to a specific location on a webpage. It's commonly used in table of contents, navigation menus, and "back to top" buttons.

Supported Section Types

You can create anchor links in these sections:

  • Block sections
  • Automatic layouts
  • Course sections
  • Gallery sections
  • Video sections

How to Create an Anchor Link

  1. Create the Anchor Slug:
  • Edit your page and hover over the desired section
  • Click "Edit section"
  • Add a slug in the "Anchor link" field (automatically includes a hashtag)
  • Copy the generated URL using the copy icon
  1. Create the Link:
  • Add a text block where you want the link to appear
  • Type and highlight your link text
  • Click the link icon and paste the copied URL
  • Optional: Enable "Open link in new tab"
  • Save changes

Special Link Types

Back to Top Link:

  • Add anchor slug "top" to first page section
  • Create link in footer with text "Back to top"
  • Disable "Open in new tab"

Footer Link:

  • Add anchor slug "bottom" to last section
  • Create link anywhere with text "Go to footer"
  • Disable "Open in new tab"

Workaround for Unsupported Sections:

  • Add empty section above target section
  • Create anchor link to empty section
  • Disable "Fill screen" option to minimize gap

Best Practices and Limitations

  • Use unique slugs per page
  • Slugs automatically replace spaces with hyphens
  • URLs with anchor links are visible to visitors
  • Update links when changing domains or slugs
  • Version 7.0 requires alternative methods:
    • Use code blocks
    • Use template-provided index page anchors

Remember to maintain your anchor links when making site changes to ensure they continue working properly.
