
How to Rename Your Squarespace Domain: A 5-Day Window Guide
To rename a Squarespace domain, you must act within the first five days of registration. After this period, the domain name becomes permanent.
Five-Day Reflection Period
- Calculated to the minute from registration
- Example: Domain registered at 8:00 AM on January 1st can be canceled until January 6th at 7:59 AM
- Not available for most country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) like .co.uk or .de
Important Notes
- Primary domains cannot be deleted without setting another domain first
- If the five-day period has passed, you'll need to register a new domain and switch it as primary
- Different rules apply for ccTLDs and resold domains
How to Rename Your Domain

Cancel the Current Domain:
- Go to Domains dashboard
- Select the domain to modify
- Click "Delete Domain"
- You'll receive a refund after deletion

Register a New Domain:
- Return to Domains dashboard
- Complete the registration process for your new domain name
- Set it as your primary domain if desired
Exceptions
- ccTLDs (.com.au, .de, etc.) have no reflection period
- Domains purchased through resellers must be canceled through the reseller's account
- For domains beyond the five-day period, consider changing your primary domain instead
Remember to maintain your online presence by properly redirecting traffic when changing domains.
