  3. Enter your domain name
  4. Click "Connect Domain"
  5. Select "Other" from the dropdown
  6. Keep the DNS settings menu open for reference

Log into your 1&1 IONOS account:

  1. Navigate to 1&1 IONOS and login
  2. Find your domain
  3. Click Actions > DNS

Configure DNS Settings:

  1. Delete existing AAAA and A records:
  • Set filter to "All Records"
  • Remove all AAAA and A records using the trash icon
  • Confirm deletions

  • Hostname: [Copy unique code from Squarespace]
  • Points To: verify.squarespace.com
  • TTL: 1 hour
  1. Add Second CNAME Record:
  • Click "Add Record" > CNAME
  • Hostname: www

Important Notes:

  • Connection takes 24-72 hours to complete

  • Use DNS record checker tool if verification fails

If you encounter issues after 72 hours:

  1. Verify all DNS records are correct

  3. Contact IONOS support if needed

Keep your email service working:

  • Preserve any existing Mail or E-Mail host records
  • Don't delete email-related DNS entries

Monitor the connection:

  • Return to Squarespace DNS settings
  • Click "Refresh Records"
  • Look for green labels indicating successful connection
  • Domain should show as "Connected" when complete
