
How to Set Up URL Redirects in Squarespace: Complete Domain Guide
A site visitor needs to be redirected to another URL. Here's how to set up domain redirection in Squarespace:
Basic URL Redirection Steps:
- Open the domains panel
- Click the domain you want to edit
- Select Website
- Scroll to "URL redirect rules" and click "Add rule"
- Enter redirect details:
- Redirect from: Use @ for main domain or enter subdomain
- Redirect to: Enter full destination URL
- Configure advanced settings:
- Choose 301 (permanent) or 302 (temporary) redirect
- Keep SSL enabled
- Select path redirection preferences
- Click Save
Types of Redirects Available:
- Main domain redirect (example.com → newsite.com)
- Subdomain redirect (blog.example.com → newsite.com/blog)
- Specific page redirect (example.com → newsite.com/specific-page)

Domain forwarding error
For Custom Name Servers:
- Add required DNS records (CNAME and A records)
- Remove existing A/AAAA records with @ host
- Configure redirect rules as above
Important Notes:
- Redirects can take up to 72 hours to update
- Clear browser cache if redirect doesn't work immediately
- SSL should remain enabled for security

- Cannot edit DNS records while redirect is active
- www version automatically redirects with main domain
