Keyword Analytics provides crucial insights into how visitors find your website through search engines. This data helps optimize your content for better search visibility and user engagement.

Accessing Search Keywords Data

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Traffic > Search Terms
  2. Choose between Google or Other Search Engines tabs
  3. Select your desired date range (data available since January 2014)

Google Search Keywords

To view Google search data, verify your website with Google Search Console. After verification, wait 72 hours for data population. The system tracks four key metrics:

  • Total Clicks: Number of clicks from search results
  • Total Impressions: Times your website appeared in search results
  • Avg. Click-Through Rate: Percentage of impressions resulting in clicks
  • Avg. Position: Your website's average ranking position for keywords

Data Visualization

The Domain Keywords chart shows trends for your top four keywords over time. Below, a detailed table displays up to 200 keywords with their performance metrics. View results by Pages or entire Domain.

Note: For privacy reasons, Google may not show specific terms with low search volume, though clicks are still counted in totals.

Other Search Engines

This section shows traffic from search engines like Bing and DuckDuckGo. The data includes:

  • Keyword frequency (Count)
  • Individual search engine breakdowns
  • "Not provided" data for secure searches
  • Keywords up to 80 characters

Maximizing Keyword Data

  1. Identify Optimization Opportunities
  • Review keywords with high impressions but low click-through rates
  • Focus on improving position for valuable keywords
  • Implement keywords naturally in relevant website areas
  1. Enhance Content Strategy
  • Align product descriptions with successful search terms
  • Connect customer search patterns with purchase behavior
  • Consider verifying with additional search engines for broader insights

Troubleshooting

If data appears incorrect:

  • Compare with Google Search Console directly
  • Allow time for data synchronization (up to 72 hours)
  • Contact support if issues persist beyond 72 hours

For best results, regularly monitor keyword performance and adjust your content strategy accordingly. This data-driven approach helps ensure your website reaches its intended audience effectively.
