Squarespace Updates Donation Block: New Features and Setup Guide
Add a donation block to accept financial contributions for your cause, charity, or event. Donation blocks allow visitors to support your organization financially or set up custom gift registries.
Important Prerequisites:
- Must edit site on computer (not available in app)
- Connect to a payment processor before accepting donations
- Transaction fees apply
- Tax rules don't apply to donations
- Email and phone number required at checkout
- Recurring donations available only on 7.1 sites with Stripe/Squarespace Payments
Adding a Donation Block:
- Edit page/post
- Click Add Block → Donation
- Click pencil icon to open block editor
- Connect payment processor if needed
- Customize button text and settings
Customization Options:
Button Text:
- Default text is "Donate"
- Customizable for different purposes (e.g., "Send Us a Gift")
Funds:
- Default: General Fund
- Add multiple funds with unique settings
- Donors can select from dropdown menu
- Each fund can have different:
- Suggested amounts
- Recurring donation options
Donation Amounts:
- Add suggested amounts
- Create labeled tiers (e.g., "Gold Membership")
- Allow custom amounts
Additional Features:
- Custom payment forms
- Form fields for dedication/special instructions
- Donation receipt customization
- Design options following site's global styles

Important Notes:
- Donors need accounts only for recurring donations
- Anonymous donations not possible
- Payment processing and transaction fees apply
- Compatible with third-party CRMs
- Accepts all Squarespace Commerce payment methods
For revenue tracking, donor profiles, and refund management, access the Donations panel in your site dashboard.
Note: Features vary between 7.0 and 7.1 versions. New blocks (post July 8, 2024) offer enhanced features but some original functionalities may not transfer.
