Discontinued Fonts List: Over 200 Retired Fonts No Longer Available on Squarespace
Because our font offerings depend on external providers, we sometimes need to retire certain fonts. Once a font is retired, you cannot use it in new areas of your site or on a new site. Here's everything you need to know about handling discontinued fonts.
Error Message When Duplicating Sites
If you receive an error when trying to duplicate a site due to discontinued fonts, you'll need to replace them first. There's no automatic way to identify discontinued fonts - you'll need to check your current fonts against the discontinued list below.
Replacing Retired Fonts
For Version 7.1:
- Open site styles
- Click > next to Fonts
- Check font settings in Headings, Paragraphs, Buttons, and Miscellaneous
- Select new fonts for any discontinued ones
- Consider choosing a new font package if you have extensive customization
For Version 7.0:
- Open site styles
- Find settings using discontinued fonts
- Select replacement fonts
- Check different pages if settings aren't visible
Note: If using a new font package, you'll lose all previous font customization.
Custom CSS Considerations
If your site uses discontinued fonts in custom CSS, remove them from the CSS editor before attempting site duplication.
