
How to Change Your Site and Account Language on Squarespace
Change the account and site language on Squarespace by adjusting two key settings:
Account Language:
- Controls the language you see when editing your site
- Changes navigation menus and editing panels
- Each collaborator can set their own preference
- Affects all sites linked to your account
- Can be changed via Account Settings > Language
Site Language:
- Affects text visitors see (form labels, dates, navigation)
- Available languages include English, French, German, Japanese (7.1 only), Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish
- Change through Site Languages panel (7.1) or Language and Region panel (7.0)
What Gets Translated:
- Form field labels and placeholders

What Stays in English:
- Your own content (text blocks, page titles)
- Calendar structures

- Site language changes only affect embedded text
- Dates use localized formatting in supported templates
- Form fields adapt to visitor's location
- Mobile apps available in all supported languages
- Each setting can be different (e.g., English account, Spanish site)
