Analytics is Squarespace's built-in platform providing insights into your site's performance through visual reports on page views, conversion, sales, referrals, and bounce rates. For online stores, it includes revenue data and cart abandonment metrics.

Key Things to Know:

  • Requires JavaScript to track visitor activity
  • Available to site owners and admins with analytics permissions
  • Data cannot be exported currently

Analytics Access by Plan Type:

  • Traffic monitoring
  • Geographic data
  • Purchase funnel analysis
  • Abandoned cart tracking
  • Traffic sources

Important Metrics Explained:

  • RPO (Revenue per Order): Average revenue per order
  • Bounce Rate: Percentage of single-page visits
  • Conversion Rate: Visitor-to-action ratio
  • Unique Visitors: Estimated total individual visitors
  • PageView: Full page load count
  • Visits: Total browsing sessions (30-minute window)

Best Practices:

  • Log in before viewing your site to prevent skewing data
  • Monitor changes in metrics after site updates
  • Consider hiring a Squarespace Expert for detailed analysis
  • Use historical data after upgrades to track long-term trends

Conversion Rate Calculations:

  • Sales Funnel: (Purchases ÷ Total visits) × 100
  • Product Sales: (Orders with product ÷ Total product views) × 100
  • Form/Button: (Submissions or clicks ÷ Unique views) × 100

All metrics retain historical data after plan upgrades, providing continuous performance tracking from the site's inception.
