Your site's asset library stores all uploaded images and videos for easy reuse across your site. Here's how to effectively manage and reuse your assets:
Reusing Assets
Images can be reused in:
- Banner images
- Blog posts and events
- Email campaigns
- Image and Gallery blocks
- Product images
- Background images
- Site logos (v7.1)
Videos can be reused in:
- Video blocks
- Section backgrounds
- Course pages
- Video pages
Managing Your Asset Library
To check your assets:
- Open the "Assets" panel
- View uploaded images, videos, and stock content
- Check file details by hovering over assets and clicking the three dots
Organizing Assets
Create folders to organize content:
- Click "Add New" then "Folder"
- Name your folder
- Transfer assets by selecting them and using the folder icon
- Create up to 40 levels of subfolders
- Maximum 300 subfolders per folder
Adding New Content
From Computer:
- Open Assets panel
- Drag and drop files or click "Add New"
- Monitor upload progress
From Squarespace App:
- Tap + in Home tab
- Select "Upload assets to library"
- Choose images and tap Import
Maintaining Your Library
Delete assets:
- Select items to remove
- Click trash can icon
- Deleted items stay in trash for 30 days
- Empty trash to permanently delete
Restore deleted assets:
- Access trash within 30 days
- Select items to restore
- Click "Restore"
- Items return to original locations
File Management Tips:
- Rename assets for better organization
- Use descriptive filenames for accessibility
- Avoid duplicate uploads
- Keep original files on your computer as backup
Stock Image Usage:
- Unsplash images can be freely reused
- Getty Images require specific licensing for use outside Squarespace
- Stock images remain in the site's asset library where first acquired
